My only qualms with this product are that it doesn't come with instructions and perhaps isn't actually as versatile as it claims to be in that it really only excels at cooking tall vegetables. I used a set of tongs to safely remove the basket from the pot (more on the tongs later!) and served my asparagus with a drizzle of good olive oil, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, and a sprinkling of flakey sea salt. I removed the lid and tested the asparagus after five minutes using a fork and to my surprise, it was perfectly cooked from top to bottom. Once the water was boiling, I placed the basket in the pot and covered it with the lid. I prepared my asparagus by peeling the bottom third of each spear and removing the tough ends, then placing all spears into the basket with the tips facing up. I filled the outer pot with about an inch of water just as I normally would for a steamed veg situation. I'm not typically a fan of uni-tasking kitchen tools, unless they get the job done effortlessly.
